Northgate’s 100 x 100’s
April 18th 2009
This years competition turned out to be an exciting morning. The endurance test comprises swimming 100 times 100 meters on a 1:30 minute repetition whilst, for the younger swimmers, the target is 50 times 100 meters on a repetition rate of 1:45 minutes.
There were a comfortable amount of swimmers in the pool who all swam extremely well. The 50 x 100s finished first with 8 swimmers achieving the mark. These were Aaran Darley, Jess & Chrissie Jones, Fern Cates, Emily Rutter, Becky Hawthorn, Emma Hudson and Alex Barker. Matt Griffiths swam well to achieve 21 of the 50 100’s.
The only casualty of this event was one person with severe cramp. Fortunately this wasn’t one of the swimmers, surprisingly, and I promised that I wouldn’t name S***y in this report.
The bigger guns were, in the meantime, blasting away in the gruelling 100 x 100’s. Again, coincidentally, 8 swimmers succeeded through to completion. Theses were Jade Evans, Kim Donaldson, Robbie Ross, Nick & Joe Thacker, Dave Clarke, Stu Burton and Harriet Themans. Emily Dewfield made a great effort and achieved a very credible 30 lengths.
A very big well done to all swimmers!!
