Northgate Coaches include-

d
James

D Davidson is Northgate’s’ chief coach and has been coaching swimming for 27 years, 22 as chief coach. He has coached the Shropshire County Team and Salopia in his time and is a former ASA coaching tutor. What D doesn’t know about swimming is not worth knowing. High points in his coaching career have been the Northgate Swimmer Chris Hendy winning a silver medal in the Sydney Para Olympic Games and Justin Davda winning the 400m Freestyle National Title. D is a hockey player when swimming commitments permit and is married to Trish with 2 children (both ex- Northgate) and 2 grand-daughters.

Keith Lewis is in charge of coaching the Junior Squad and has been doing so for 5 years. Keith’s two daughters Olivia and Chloe both swim for Northgate and his wife Stevie is a qualified Judge and Timekeeper. Off poolside Keith sports a fantastic collection of Rugby shirts, some more tasteful than others.
Keith coaches the Saturday morning session, the Sunday and Thursday evening session and also covers Wednesday evening session coaching the seniors.

James will be a familiar face to many at Northgate as he undertakes much of the teaching of our youngsters. James joined the swimming club aged 5 (back in 1988!) following in the footsteps of his brother Shaun and sister Maria. Since graduating in Geography from Aberystwyth University, James has returned to Bridgnorth and provides valuable cover teaching on Saturday mornings and Sunday nights as a volunteer, helping with Land Training and also working at the Leisure Centre and St Leonard’s School swimming pool. James is a fantastic role model for younger swimmers and provides advice and encouragement all the way. His swimming highlights have been reaching the Midlands Bagcats in 2005 and 2006 and swimming for the Welsh Universities Team. Best events are Freestyle and 50M Backstroke. James’ brother Andrew will also be seen teaching the youngsters of Northgate.

Northgate Swimming Club would not exist if it wasn’t for the time and effort put in by the many other coaches and pool-side helpers that support all of the training sessions. Thanks go out to them from all the members!!!
