Many people are concerned that being part of a swimming club means a huge commitment to training, at the exclusion of other sports and activities. Whilst this is true of Olympic swimmers – and some of our older members, it’s certainly not true of our younger swimmers.
We’d like to invite your child to come and join the Northgate teaching groups which run on Saturday mornings from 10.45 and Sunday evenings from 6.15 at a cost of only £16 or £22 per month (depending on their level and the number of sessions available to them)
Northgate’s Teaching Groups are led by Paul Hatton, and teach basic technique and stamina to small groups. They follow the ASA awards scheme, but have fine-tuned it to make it, we feel, even more appropriate for young swimmers! All those teaching your child are experienced and fully qualified for the role. As a SWIM 21 accredited club we take child protection very seriously which means that everyone who has a poolside duty to perform has been fully CRB checked.
As your child improves they will progress to doing an extra session on a Thursday evening, in order to ease them on into our Junior Squad. Gary Barnes coaches our juniors. Here the children still have fun, and learn about teamwork, and start to enter into some swimming competitions.
When they are not swimming, our members have a great social life together – cinema trips, picnics, pool BBQs, Charity fundraising, Bridgnorth Walk, fun ‘diddy’ galas – with all ages and families encouraged to take part. It’s really a very friendly club where all ages mix well and youngsters grow up in a healthy and safe environment, often with lifelong friendships made as a result of being Northgate members.
Northgate offers exceptional good value for money when it comes to teaching your child to swim well. In any case, your child is invited to come to the first 2 weeks’ sessions free of charge to make sure that it’s for them.
We look forward to welcoming you and getting to know you and your child.
All that we ask is that your child arrives promptly, with goggles and swimming hat, certainly for girls with longer hair, and above all, listens to their teacher and enjoys themselves!
