Shropshire ASA are making some small grants available to clubs and to individual swimmers between the ages of 11 and 18 on the 1st September 2013.
The grants recognise that swimming does require some expense and Shropshire ASA want to assist in a modest way those swimmers who have done well this year. The grant recognise progression as well as absolute achievement and they also recognise that some swimmers excel in the way they support others through volunteering and acting as role models etc.
I don’t know how much money Shropshire have put aside for this – but I suspect that its less than last year because the profits from the County Age Group Championships will have been less.
There is also an opportunity for each club to make an application – we discussed this at the committee and are applying for a grant to assist in the purchase of a portable PA system that we could use at galas. At the moment we have to hire a system in for galas at Wenlock.
I’ve arranged for the application form to be put on our website. If you want to apply there are a couple of things you need to consider.
1) applications need to be supported by a referee in the club. Logically for most that would be your coach -but if you are applying on eh grounds of volunteering it would be me ( to help share the load)
2) The forms need to be back with the County, having been signed off by the club referee by the 31st January.
3) The applications will be assessed on the merits of what is said on the form itself. The assessor will not know any of the swimmers personally.
As always I’m happy to take questions and to support you where I can with this.
